8-Hour Rigging & Material Handling

Course Length: 8 hours

This program trains employees on the hazards and procedures of performing rigging operations for material handling. OSHA and ANSI documents are referenced in this class.

Course Objectives:

• Mathematics for riggers
• Determining weight of loads
• Determining the center of gravity for lifting
• Different types of rigging and material handling devices
• Utilizing rigging and slings
• Inspection criteria of lifting equipment
• Lifting hardware and attachments
• Safety precautions prior to lifting and lifting permits
• Lifting around critical systems and personnel
• The use of PPE

This program does require a hands-on session with either a crane or overhead crane for lifting demonstrations and competency checks for attendees.
