24-Hour New Miner Training
Course Length: 24 hours
This program meets the Mine Safety and Health Act training requirements for newly employed miners.
NOTE: This training can be provided for mines covered by Part 46 and Part 48 standards.
Course Objectives:
- Introduction to the work environment
- Hazard recognition
- Health and safety aspects of assigned tasks
- Miner’s rights under the act
- Respiratory devices
- Transportation controls and communication systems
- Escape and evacuation procedures
- Fires and fire prevention
- Electrical hazards
- Health
- First aid
- Ground control/water hazards/illumination and night work
This course can be delivered in three eight hour days or two twelve hour days. A split plan is available where one eight hour day is completed and the balance of training is completed within sixty days.
