4 to 8-Hour Incipient Firefighting
Course Length: 4-8 Hours (Length determined by topics required to be covered)
- How to properly recognize an incipient fire
- Determine the appropriate course of action
- How to chose the appropriate extinguishing method
- How to properly use various types of fire extinguishers
- How to properly handle and use handheld fire hoses, including foam and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) systems (if available)
- Discuss the various types of fixed extinguishing systems found on site
- Discuss various fire prevention methods, based on hazard recognition and housekeeping practices
- How to follow and perform emergency evacuation procedures
Equipment needed: Fire extinguishers and an area for extinguishing a training fire.
