8-Hour Powered Industrial Trucks - Trailer Jockey (Yard Dog)

Practical Evaluation: Approximately 30 minutes per employee

The classroom portion is designed to review the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178(l) and 1926.602(d) for yard tractors:
- Hazards of operation
- Workplace hazards
- Inspection
- Safe operation
- Operator responsibilities
- Different attachments
- Written test
The practical exercises includes:
- Pre-operational inspection of the trailer jockey.
- Practical evaluation in which each employee operates the trailer jockey through a pre-designed course.
- Evaluation of training (Examples: peers, instructor, coaches, etc.)
Learning tools include audio/visual instruction, handouts and discussion.
