The classroom portion is designed to cover the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.180 and 29 CFR 1926.550 and 1926 Subpart P and includes:
- Hazards of boom truck operation
- Operator responsibilities
- Workplace hazards
- Safe operation
- Inspection
- Load charts and capacities
- Different attachments
- Written test
The practical exercises includes:
- Pre-operational inspection of boom truck.
- Practical evaluation in which each employee operates the boom truck through a pre-designed course.
- Evaluation of training (Examples: peers, instructor, coaches, etc.)
Learning tools include audio visual instruction, handouts and discussion.
